The Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa is 16th century oil painting created by the renowned Leonardo da Vinci. The work of art depicts an enigmatic woman gazing at the viewer, and it is said that if you move across the room while looking into her eyes, they’ll follow you. It is definitely one of the most popular paintings worldwide and has been the center of many artistic, religious, and theoretical debates. The French government currently owns the Mona Lisa and it is featured at the Musee du Louvre in Paris. The painting can also be referred to as La Gioconda or La Joconde.

The name of the painting stems from the name of the woman in the portrait, Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a wealthy businessman in Florence, Italy named Francesco del Giocondo. Mona means ‘my lady’ or ‘madam’ in modern Italian, so the title is simply Madam Lisa. Art historians agree that Leonardo da Vinci likely began painting the Mona Lisa in 1503, and completed it within 4 years. In 1516 the King of France, King Francois, bought the painting and it is thought that after Leonardo’s death the painting was cut down. Some speculators think that the original had columns on both sides of the lady, whereas other art critics believe that the painting was never cut down in size. It has been suggested that there were 2 versions of the Mona Lisa painting, but many historians reject the second version. The duplicate copy can be found at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. After the French revolution the painting was moved to the Louvre, and Napoleon had it placed in his bedroom for a short time before it was returned to the Louvre. The popularity of the Mona Lisa increased in the mid 19th century because of the Symbolist movement. The painting was thought to encompass a sort of feminine mystique.

In 1911 the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre. The art thief hid in a broom closet until the museum closed, stole the painting, hid it under his jacket and walked out the front door. Eduardo de Valfierno was the mastermind behind the theft and has planned to make copies of the original and sell them as the real thing. Eventually, in 1913, he was caught when trying to sell the original to a Florence art dealer. The Mona Lisa is most famous for her facial expression, her enigmatic smile and da Vinci’s mastering of tone and color in the painting. There is much mythology and interpretations relating to the painting that mystify the world. Many art critics and art history buffs suggest that the Mona Lisa is actually a portrait of da Vinci himself in feminine form. In addition, most viewers see the meaning behind Mona Lisa’s smile very differently.

Top 20 Most Wanted Features for iPhone 5 !

Now the Macbook Pro and iPad 2 have been unveiled to the public, it is the time of iPhone 5 rumors again. Everything we know about the iPhone 5 isn’t too far off. In fact, new rumors indicate that the next generation iPhone could come with a new aluminum design for AT&t and Version, ditching the ultra-fragile glass back coming with the iPhone 4. Also features such as aluminum back, the A5 SoC, and “confirmation” of a June or July 2011 release date. The iPhone 5 would look more like the iPad 2, in that it’s smooth and has rounded edges. But what are you most looking forward to? Here, I highlight the Top 20 Most Wanted Features for iPhone 5. Enjoy!
20. Built-in IR
We like the idea of using the iPhone as a universal remote, but we’re not so keen on attaching an IR dongle to the phone every time we want to use it as a remote.
19. HD output
Right now, you can’t output 720p or 1080i HD video from an iPhone (any iPhone). We hope Apple allows for HD output in the future, particularly when you consider that Sprint’s Android-powered Evo has full HD output via HDMI.
18. Biometric security
It’s hardly a must-have upgrade, but it would be cool to swipe your finger–instead of enter a password–to unlock your phone. (Image note: Allegedly, Apple has filed some patents related to this feature.)
17. RFID
Rumor has it that Apple is looking into integrating radio frequency identification, or RFID, into the iPhone. RFID is sort of a bar code replacement and could allow your iPhone–among other things–to act as a payment device or even a car key. In the image to the left, you see a scenario where the iPhone acts as a combination lock (to open what, we don’t know).
16. Enhanced voice control
We expect that in the the next generation of the iOS, Apple will continue to flesh out the voice controls for the iPhone, but there’s always room for more enhancements. It would be cool to be able to compose e-mails or text message by just using your voice, no?
15. Removable battery
This well-known rendering of a future iPhone dreams of a model with a removable battery. That appears to run counter to Apple’s current design principles.
14. More memory
A lot of people were disappointed that the iPhone 4 didn’t come in a 64GB version (only 16GB and 32GB). Maybe next year we’ll get 64GB.
13. Expandable memory
Not happening, but just thought we’d ask.
12. Flash support
It’ll be a cold day in hell when Apple allows for Flash support on the iPhone. But that doesn’t mean we can’t ask for it.
11. Better battery life
Every time Apple puts out a new iPhone, the battery life gets better, so we expect no less from the fifth-generation iPhone. Apple says the iPhone 4 has 40 percent more talk time than the iPhone 3GS. So, if the past is any indicator, we might see similar gains in next year’s model.
10. Improved home screen
We’re still waiting for a more customizable home screen, with a real “dashboard.” So far it has yet to appear in iOS 4.
9. Video chat (FaceTime) over 4G network
Currently, on the iPhone 4, FaceTime only works over Wi-Fi and only with other iPhone 4s. We’d like to see an option to use it over a cellular data network, and hope it’s supported when AT&T’s faster 4G network ramps up in 2011. We’d also like to see the ability to make video calls with PCs.
8. More carriers
Now that the CDMA version of the iPhone has finally come to Verizon, it wouldn’t be too hard to make a Sprint version. Or how about a T-Mobile iPhone?
Alas, we don’t know whether Verizon’s worked in any sort of exclusivity agreement into its deal with Apple, but let the rumors begin…
7. Fewer failed and dropped calls
AT&T has always had problems with its iPhone service in big cities like San Francisco and New York, where AT&T complaints seem to run highest.
Some have questioned whether it’s the phone or the carrier, but either way, it will be interesting to see how Verizon’s network handles the influx of iPhone users. It’s also possible that the migration of some AT&T iPhone customers to Verizon will bring relief to AT&T’s network and perhaps its service will improve. Let’s hope so.
6. Better cloud-computing support
Setting up an Android phone is dead simple: input your Gmail username and password, and the phone will immediately start pulling your Google-based contacts, calendar, and other info. The iPhone, by contrast, is still a slave to iTunes for activation and media syncing. Whether it’s a free version of Mobile Me, or an online version of iTunes powered by Apple’s Lala acquisition, cloud-based iPhone syncing can’t come soon enough.
Yes, there are some nice apps out there, like Dropbox, that offer “cloud” functionality, but they’re not as robust as they could be.
5. Improved 3D graphics
The A4 CPU has a Imagination PowerVR graphics chip integrated into it. Like the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 uses a PowerVR SGX535 chip. But the iPhone 5 will hopefully get the PowerVR SGX545, which was announced last year.
4. Better camera
We certainly appreciate that Apple improved the camera in the iPhone 4 (5 megapixels; LED flash), but we’ve seen rumors that Sony is developing an even better 8-megapixel camera for the fifth-gen iPhone.
3. Dual-core processor
With Apple’s acquisition of PA Semiconductor, it’s started designing and churning out its own CPUs. The iPhone 4 has an A4 that runs at 1GHz. However, now that LG, Motorola, and others have unveiled dual-core Android phones, the processor ante has been raised.
Rumor has it that Apple will move to a dual-core processor featuring a pair of 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores in both the next-generation iPhone and iPad 2. But that’s just speculation.
2. 4G network compatible
The one big thing missing from the iPhone 4 is the lack of next-gen 4G data network support, which is probably why Apple called it the 4 instead of the 4G.
AT&T will reportedly have a 4G network up and running in 2011, whereas Sprint has already rolled out its next-gen network. Verizon has also just deployed its 4G network, but the Verizon iPhone 4 will not support 4G data.
1. iOS 5
What new features will iOS 5 bring? Who knows, but we look forward to its arrival in June.

Advantage and Disadvantage of iPhone 4S .

Still debating whether or not to spring for the new iPhone 4S? While it does come with some shiny new hardware and software inside, not everyone will benefit from an upgrade. Debate no more — here, the advantages and disadvantages of the new smartphone.
Advantage and Disadvantage of iPhone 4S

Advantages

  • New camera — The 8MP camera with simple editing features (crop, rotate, enhance, and red-eye reduction), a backside illumination sensor, and larger aperture (for better low-light and white balance correction) make the iPhone 4S’s camera one that competes with regular point-and-shoots. It will also come with face detection and image stabilization and the ability to capture HD 1080p video.
  • Faster processor — The custom A5 chip in the iPhone 4S is the same one you’ll find on the iPad 2, which means the iPhone 4S will be faster in processing speeds, games, and downloads.
  • More carriers — Since the iPhone 4S is compatible with CDMA and GSM cellular bands, you can use it in more places around the globe. Even on Sprint’s network, if you’re looking for a change.
  • Siri integration — Apple’s new Assistant feature basically turns the iPhone 4S into a voice recognizing personal assistant. The demo during the keynote was impressive and highlighted some interesting uses for the blind, hands-free texting, and more.
  • Wireless syncing — Raise the roof for wireless sync! This will be an iOS 5 feature that will be compatible for the iPad and iPod Touch as well, but I couldn’t help but mention the fact that you’ll soon be able to set up your devices and get updates without connecting your iDevice to a Mac or PC.
  • Airplay — If you’ve got an Apple TV, the iPhone 4S will allow you to stream what’s playing on your device to your HDTV with Airplay, which is built right into the new iPhone.
  • Fingerprint resistant — The iPhone 4S has an oleophobic coating on its glass exterior, making it resistant to fingerprints by repelling oils in your fingers.

Disadvantages

  • No 4G — Still no 4G on the iPhone 4S. This is unfortunate, but you may not have to wait too much longer to get fast download speeds on your iDevice — analysts believe that Apple is waiting for better LTE chips before adding them into the iPhone, which could be as soon as early next year.
  • No NFC — Mobile payments on the iPhone will have to wait as Apple has excluded NFC (near-field communication) technology on the latest iPhone model. Of course, this won’t be a deal breaker for some of you who said you wouldn’t use it anyway.
  • All those leaked case images — We’ve seen too many leaked “iPhone 5″ case images to forget about the wider screen, sleek form, and wider body. I’m betting the real iPhone 5 is just around the corner.
  • Other options — Why spend upwards of $199 with a two-year contract when you could spend $99 and get an iPhone 4? Sure, you won’t get the 8MP camera and Assistant feature, but it’s a really good deal nonetheless. Even better — the 3GS is free!
  • No unlocked models . . . yet — If you’re an avid traveler, you might want to hold off on purchase for a few months. According to Apple’s website, unlocked versions of the iPhone 4S are coming soon.

So Should You Buy?

iPhone 3GS owners who have been waiting for their contracts to expire will get a much-needed bump in power, speed, and form factor with this update, and it’s one that’s worthy of your hard-earned dollars. iPhone 4 owners should stick to their current handsets and simply update to iOS 5 to get that “new phone feel.” You’d be better off waiting for the iPhone 5 next year.

The top 5 supplements for faster muscle gain !

1. Creatine
dot
Creatine is a natural occurring substance within our muscle cells, primarily around the skeletal muscle tissue where approximately 95% of the body's Creatine supply can be found. The remainder is stored throughout the rest of the body. This naturally occurring metabolite has been reproduced as Creatine monohydrate for dietary supplement purposes. It's used for cellular energy production and modulation.
 The perks of Creatine supplementation:
  • The promotion of lean muscle tissue
  • Increased muscle cell volume
  • Faster post-workout recovery
  • Increased glycogen synthesis
  • Increase high intensity muscle performance
Athletes typically prefer Creatine when weight training and bodybuilding because of the rapid pace at which lean muscle mass is built. Likewise, for many it's easy to stop taking Creatine because it's naturally produced by the body. When an athlete stops taking this supplement, the Creatine levels in the body return to normal within 3-4 weeks.
Recommended Dosing: 5-10 grams. Take half of your daily serving with your pre-workout meal and second half of your daily serving with your post-workout shake

2. Beta Alanine
dot
This is a naturally occurring non-essential amino acid that comes into the body through foods that are rich in protein such as poultry. The performance enhancement in Beta Alanine (BA) is due to its ability to increase intra-muscular levels of carnosine. This increase in Beta Alanine through supplementation suggests carnosine levels are raised by over 60% in as quickly as 4 weeks.
This is significant because during high intensity exercise our bodies accumulate a large amount of hydrogen which causes our pH to drop (whereby we become more acidic). This acidification (lactic acid) can cause severe fatigue, decrease muscle performance and shuts down the neural drive which can force muscle failure. By maintaining increased levels of carnosine through BA supplementation a bodybuilder is able to the delay the accumulation of hydrogen and the resulting acidity which can, subsequently, delay muscle fatigue and failure.

Additional benefits of Beta Alanine Supplementation:
  • Elevated endurance
  • Improved force output
  • Reduced fatigue
  • Improved body composition
  • Works synergistically with Creatine
  • Enhanced performance for athletes regardless of intensity or duration
Recommended Dosing: 2-3 grams pre-workout is sufficient if you are an advanced lifter an additional 2-3 grams post-workout has shown to help with the recoveryprocess.

It's been systematically surmised that body builders and trainers can improve performance and lean muscle gain when consuming whey protein shakes or supplements. Whey protein supplies the body with a high amount of protein as well as high concentrations of calciummagnesium and other minerals that are easily digested in liquid form.

Whey is typically taken before and after a workout to improve muscle recovery and restoration. Whether you are on a muscle gain diet or concerned with losing body fat, a whey protein supplementation to an exercise routine can speed the gain and loss process. Here are some key benefits to whey protein supplementation.
Easily Digested:
Weight trainers and athletes on the go can save time by consuming a whey protein shake right after their workouts to gain the benefit of the nutrients that are rapidly absorbed. Because these supplements contain a number of vitamins andminerals not available in everyday meals, this is a great supplement for anyone with a busy lifestyle.
Lactose Intolerant:
Anyone who is lactose intolerant knows the cramping and discomfort of trying to take everyday dairy shakes. Whey protein shakes are generally made with a combination of egg proteinssoy proteins and calcium caseinate protein. That means there are no similar negative side effects to pure milk products.
Note: Please read the label carefully and if you have a recommendation aboutLactose Free Protein Powder please email me.
Improved Muscle Repair:
When you complete an intense weight lifting workout or sporting event the body needs to repair itself. In order to do that it needs specific nutrition. Protein is the essential building block for muscle repair and comes packed in whey protein shakes and supplements. When taken immediately after a workout the protein triggers rapid muscle recovery.

Natural Appetite Suppressant:
Eating a high protein diet can stave off hunger, making it easier to consume a low-calorie diet without suffering from severe hunger. Whey protein supplements and shakes can be used as a meal replacement or as a snack between meals.
Amino Acids:
Our bodies need a substantial amount of quality protein and amino acids in order to function. Whey protein supplements contain very high concentrations of amino acids that provide assistance in protein synthesis.
Improved Metabolism:
Consuming a large amount of protein is fuel for the furnace. When consumed throughout the day it serves as a great source of energy to keep the fire lit formetabolism. With improved metabolism you get a higher calorie burn and reduced hunger.
Recommended Dosing: consume 30-40 grams of whey protein at a time. Best used pre and post-workout, but also is a convenient way to get in the necessary amount of protein when whole food is not an option. Never rely on shakes - though having a whey protein shake is ideal post-workout, at all other times in the day do your best to get in whole food sources.

4. Branch-Chain Amino Acid (BCAA)

Another common supplement that weight trainers and bodybuilders turn to is branch-chained amino acids (BCAA's) to improve workout results. Of the 21 amino acids in the body, three are referred to as BCAA's: leucine, isoleucine and valine. These are the main elements of protein and combine to make up about 30% of the skeletal muscle within the body.
The body uses BCAA's to help the muscles recover. Like a whey protein supplement, BCAA's drive nutrients to the muscle tissue allowing for improved workout recovery. The body will burn off BCAA's as you work out, so taking a supplement can restore the same nutrients lost during intense exercise. This supplement also reduces pain from muscle fatigue and improves metabolic recovery.

There is also some measure of proof in its use that BCAA's can help improve endurance by keeping muscles fueled - something that is of interest to long distance workouts such as backpacking or long distance running (marathons), distanceswimming, or any other prolonged workout.
Recommended Dosing: 3-5 grams upon waking and 3-5 grams pre and post-workout.

Glutamine is touted for its ability to slow muscle tissue breakdown during intensive exercise which can help in improved strength thresholds and elevated endurance. Those weight training will find that they can lift heavier weights for longer periods and train more often. Pushing the limits of the muscles of course inspires the body to produce greater lean muscle to compensate.
Glutamine also has a number of other benefits associated with taking it in supplement form:
  • Preservation of muscle tissue allows your body to burn additional fat - as the more lean muscle your body has the more effective your metabolism is. When training to lose weight, the body will also shed lean muscle so it's important to slow this muscle loss.

  • Glutamine has shown positive results with the improvement of the immune system in many who take this supplement. When you're under intense training, it places stress not only on the muscles but on our entire immune system. Glutamine restores not only the health of the muscle tissue but it feeds into the immune system as well, ensuring rapid recovery for the body as a whole.
  • Glutamine is cited for its ability to enhance growth hormone levels in the body. This is a major draw for those who want to focus on building muscle, as studies have suggested that just 2 grams of glutamine supplementation can increase growth hormone.
  • Muscle tissues require nitrogen, and glutamine supplements (L-glutamine) is made up of approximately 20% nitrogen which makes it one of the best suppliers of nitrogen for muscle tissue. When stacked with other musclerecovery and building agents like creatine and whey protein there is a significant increase in the potential for hitting rapid training goals.
Recommended Dosing: 5 grams upon waking; 5 grams post-workout and 5 grams before bed.

Of course results can always be achieved without supplements, but the process is always going to be slower. My advice to you is get your diet in line first and foremost. You will be very surprised by how much better your body will respond to weight training when your dieting is in line. Then if you decide to take the supplements I have recommended you should see better results.
The results that you gain from supplementation are going to vary, specifically because each person will have a variable workout utilizing different levels of intensity and length. If your diet is in line and you are working out with the upmost intensity I am sure that these supplements will help you get to the next level.
When searching for a supplement to enhance an intensive workout program and start building muscle fast through improved muscle recovery and enhanced nutrition then you should stick with the top 5 muscle gain supplements: WheyBCAA'sCreatineGlutamine, and Beta-Alanine.
